“What does competitive robotics look like? What does a robot built by high schoolers look like? What do LEGO bricks have to do with engineering?”

Have you had any of these questions before? Are you just now having them while reading this cool poster? Look no further. Saint Johnsbury’s own FIRST Robotics Competition team 2523 Techstorm is, for the first time, bringing our experiences and our knowledge to you, in the form of a library program!

Learn about the FIRST Robotics Competition, industry-level Computer Aided Design, and how a team comprised entirely of high schoolers operates under stressful, jam-packed sports-style competition settings. For the little ones, we’ve also provided opportunities to build engineering awareness in our own rural communities: coding in Scratch, a block-based coding web app; building a bristlebot, a toothbrush based humming buglike robot; and finally free LEGO building, which you can take home at the end of the day thanks to a generous donation. Also, LEGO bricks have a lot more to do with engineering than you think!
